Profile Working within the scope of Images that can be found online
Eleana Louka suggests links and newly established entities that reflect
on the potential structures of meaning within photographic surface and a
medium that can evade our scrutiny and in depth understanding. Not only
does the digital resist traditional methodology of experimentation and
observation as the basis of knowledge, it also boasts vast capacities of
reproduction, scale, quantity, position and storage. Adding to that, the
loose, anarchist structure of the Internet as the primary digital platform,
poses a new challenge: Can it promote Global Communication and Democracy
within a context of crisis, returning nationalism and growing social
tension? Trying to reconsider the doctrines of Luhmann within the broader
theory of Mediology, the work explores the potential of interactivity, the
inherited vocabulary of Modernism and the tradition of the avant-guard.
